Peace Series

It Takes Two

As we are slowly drawing close to our election date, it is of chief importance that we promote peace among Ghanaians. There are various peace campaigns going on within the country and this is our own little campaign to help Ghanaians vouch for peace rather than the alternative which has adverse effects. Today, we seek to look at responses.

We are all very much aware that one man alone cannot indulge in a fight- unless it be an internal struggle with himself. It obviously requires a response of some sort to actually set the course out for conflict. So how will things pan out if someone does say something to incite anger in you and your response is the exact opposite of his intention? What will be the reaction if someone does slap you and you truly turn the other cheek as our Master has commanded us? Imagine the confusion of the other party.

Christians must necessarily be agents of peace in this period. This is when we must show our light to the world for them to indeed be drawn to our Father in heaven. Our responses need be ones that show the love that has first been taught us by Christ to in turn teach the world. Go the extra mile to ensure that our country remains peaceful till the very end of the electoral process.

There are people who believe they will be branded cowards or fools if they do not react. The truth of the matter is you are reacting, in fact Newton’s third law of Physics tells us there is always an equal and opposite reaction to every action. So then there is need that you react. That reaction however should not be one that would cause a chain of negative reactions but one that would incite a sequence of positive internal reformations. You are neither a coward nor a fool, you are a Christian- an ambassador for peace and love.

Proverbs 20:3 says ‘avoiding strife brings a man honor, but every fool is quarrelsome.’

We must be resolved within our hearts to be the people who cause the change around us- to inspire to be more like Christ. We have a mandate to be the light and the light has no darkness in it. I will conclude with a these Bible verses;

Proverbs 17:14 ‘Starting a quarrel is like letting out water; stop it before strife breaks out.’

Proverbs 10:22 ‘Hatred stirs up trouble, but love forgives all wrongs.’

God bless you
