Jealousy like many things tend to deal with our perspective. it is when we make God too small in our eyes. That is when we, like the Israelite, cry out our desire to be like the other Nations and that is where the trouble begins.Because when we forget that the Lord is our portion, we start desiring other people’s portion, asking why they have what they have and we begin feeling inadequate. And that is what makes jealousy so bad because it does not only hurt us, it hurts God. It makes us push God and His word away, His word that says, “My grace is sufficient for you.” Really we should sleep on that word and let it settle in our being, “Sufficient….Enough…the oil in our life that won’t run out, the water in the jars that is just right to turn to wine…”
See, God and His word takes care of all we could ever be jealous of-someones beauty? You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Someone’s status? For there is neither Jew nor Gentile, male nor female in the eyes of God for we are all one in Christ. Is it about someone’s treasures? Let no man glory in men for all things are yours. Or that someone’s life seem to be all easy going? For God is able to make all things work for the good of them that love Him.
Jealousy is when we forget that God has already told us that He got us COVERED!
And really what right do we have to get jealous of other people’s blessings? It does not really add up knowing that we serve a God who rains and shines on both good and bad. Who clearly states that He blesses whom He chooses to bless and has compassion on whom He chooses to have compassion on. And come to think of it what do we have that we didn’t get? Jealousy is telling God that He has no idea how to bless us-and that is pretty too much for a pot to say to it’s potter.
But God being God gets us when we loose focus and get jealous. And in such times all He wants is for us to see the world through His eyes. And understand that the wisdom and treasures of this world is truly folly in His eyes. And that we are not defined by our relationships, our jobs, our certificates and whatever tag society places on us…instead we are more than conquerors, God’s special people, holy nation, more precious than gold and-and oh let this sink in-
WE ARE HIS and that means many things including being JUST RIGHT.
So whenever jealousy rears his head in our lives lets keep our perspective on God and keep looking into His eyes.
God bless you.
