Today I sat in a commercial bus popularly called a ‘trotro’ in Ghana. I was en route home. On our journey, the driver decided to take a shortcut and ended up on a small path. All cars were struggling to be in a queue that led to the main road. So while struggling a saloon car brushed against our bus because he couldn’t just be patient for his turn to join the queue.

Another taxi, struggled with our driver who was already in the queue and ended up pushing our driver out of the queue because our driver didn’t want to risk having his car dented. So now our bus was out of the queue, which is unlawful, and trying to get back into the queue. In the process of doing so, a policeman walks up to our driver and tells him to turn around and go and rejoin the queue.

You can imagine how pissed my driver was. He tried explaining but the policeman didn’t bother listening. A female policeman came to even join the current one just to enforce that we turned around and rejoined the queue.

I believe some of us have faced this kind of issue before. Maybe in a different way all together. Maybe unlike the driver, you were actually willing and joyful at helping a colleague, or a friend or even someone you don’t know.

Only for all to backfire in your face. But at that moment do you stop doing good or being a true vessel of our Father. Do you stop giving because the last time you gave, you were swindled. Would you stop lending a helping hand because the last time you tried everything went wrong and everyone blamed you?

Remember you are the servant of the Lord of host. Meaning everything you do must be in praise of Him and to Him.

Colossians 3:23-24
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

You must however know that you must be led into whatever you are doing by the Holy Spirit. And it must be something that is of worth to Him.

People may not appreciate you, but God knows you and knows your heart. Men may not applaud, but there is much rejoicing in Heaven over what you did.

However, know that in extending a helping hand to others you must apply wisdom as well.

God loves you. Don’t get tired of doing good or helping out.
